Protecting yourself and your loved ones against the unexpected is important, and the Great Eastern Essential Protector personal accident plan offers coverage for injuries resulting from accidents. In this review, we will explore the key features and benefits of this plan to help you make an informed decision.

The Great Eastern Essential Protector is a renewable plan that requires annual policy renewal. The entry age for this plan is between 17 and 65 years, allowing a wide range of individuals to be eligible for coverage.

The premium payment terms for the Great Eastern Essential Protector vary depending on the plan you choose. It’s important to note that this plan is not approved for MediSave use. Additionally, the amount you pay for insurance may change upon policy renewal, but you will be given at least 30 days’ notice if any changes occur.

Under the Great Eastern Essential Protector, you are protected in the event of an injury resulting from an accident. The policy provides benefits for various claimable events within 365 days of the accident. There are individual plans and family plan categories to choose from, allowing you to select the coverage that best suits your needs.

The policy offers different sums assured for death benefits, motor-cycling accidents or all other covered accidents, public conveyance or private motor car accidents, and air travel accidents. The payout for death benefits is the sum assured minus any benefits previously paid for permanent disablement from the same accident. However, it excludes death from public conveyance, private motor cars, and air travel accidents. For accidents involving public conveyance or private motor cars, the payout is double the sum assured minus any benefits previously paid for permanent disablement. For accidents during air travel, the benefit is triple the sum assured minus any benefits paid for permanent disablement.

In cases of permanent disablement resulting from accidents involving public conveyance or private motor cars, the payout is double the proportion of the sum assured. However, this excludes motorcycling accidents. For permanent disablement resulting from accidents other than public conveyance, private motor car, or air travel accidents, the payout benefit is equal to the proportion of the sum assured. The total benefits payable for death and permanent disablement related to public conveyance or private motor cars are limited to double the sum assured. The benefit for permanent disablement due to air travel accidents is triple the proportion of the sum assured.

The Great Eastern Essential Protector also includes a Free Child Cover benefit. This provides coverage for your children in the event they suffer an injury resulting in permanent disablement. The policy will pay out a proportion of the child’s sum insured as specified in the Table of Compensation. This benefit is applicable if you and your child are insured under the My200 option of the policy, or if you are insured under either the Our100 or Our200 options.

In the unfortunate event of a terrorist attack, the total benefits payable for claim events resulting from the attack are capped at $2,000,000 for you or your child covered under the Free Child Cover benefit. This applies to this policy and all personal accident policies and riders associated with the same life assured.

In summary, the Great Eastern Essential Protector is a straightforward personal accident plan that covers accidental death and disablement. It provides a lump sum payout to your loved ones in the event of permanent disablement due to an accident. The payout multiples vary based on the type of accident, with 2X the sum assured for accidents involving public conveyance or private motor cars, and 3X the sum assured for air travel accidents. The policy also extends free coverage for Accidental Permanent Disablement to all your children below the age of 16, as long as you and/or your spouse are covered under the Great Eastern Essential Protector. Signing up for this plan is hassle-free, as no medical check-up is required for individuals between 17 and 65 without mobility problems or physical disabilities.
